SPF - Nightlife


Stuff Portrait Friday - (Late Again.)

This is my bed. I still haven't found a new bedspread but I look in all the ads
every weekend. I am getting tired of the teddybear collection and am ready to
start upgrading my home decor to match my upcoming upgrading of my age.
I have found the stoneware that I plan on using as the starting point to match
the decor with. The stoneware comes in four different colors, and I plan on
mix-matching the burgundy, gold, and green. The glassware I want is blue and is
amazingly close to the glassware that has been sitting in my parent's china
cabinet all my life.
My next goal will be to find new couch covers for the sofa and loveseat. Then I
will find a new bedspread set and matching shower curtain and bath dishes. And
at some point, I will have to replace all the appliances in the kitchen that
have teddybears on them. I may end up selling all of this stuff on ebay to
finance my redecoration plans.

This is my dresser. It matches the nightstand and bed and was given to me by my
paternal grandmother before she passed away in June 2001.

The bottom two drawers are all pajamas. I love buying new pajamas, I guess you
could say it is one of my weaknesses. The bottom left drawer are all cold weater
pajamas and the bottom left drawer are for the other 50 weeks of the year.
The big drawer in the middle is full of a multitude of different colored socks.
The other two drawers on the middle row serve as home to white socks, hose &
trouser socks, pantyhose & bathing suits. The top two drawers are the two
drawers that are nearly impossible to keep organized.. the boulder-holders and
undies.

These are my favorite pajamas. Soft cotton and barely there. From Christmas 1988
until January 7, 2005... this California Queen Waterbed was what I called home
every night. If you have ever slept on a waterbed you know that it takes a while
to adjust the temperature if it gets too hot or too cold. If it was too cold I
could just wear the pajamas from the bottom left drawer that I don't get to wear
much in Texas weather, but when its too hot.. there is only so much you can take
off and still have something on.

The Burn


Thursday night during Baking class I had my hands resting on the edge of a
table and when I leaned in towards the center of a table to watch a
demonstration on rolling cinnamon rolls, my wrist came in contact with a sheet
pan that had just come out of a 450degree oven after about 20-25 minutes baking
a pizza. This burn is now about 70 hours old and it still hurts like crazy. Any
ideas?

I Have A Dream
Not Exactly What You Were Expecting Was It?
My dream is that one day I will find a doctor that will be able to stop my
migraines before they happen, not just give me hardcore medicine (that makes me
nauseous) to take when they do. You would think when I can look at a calendar
four months ahead of time and know when I will have a migraine, then you would
think that these so called "headache doctors" could stop them.
I went to the doctor about a month ago and with my doctor I think I am now on
Plan A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z AA AB AC AD AE AF AG AH
AI AJ AK AL AM AN AO AP AQ AR AS AT AU AV AW AX AY AZ BA BC BD *BE*, which was
to start a new pack of hormones every 21 days and to never take the white pills,
which in theory should stop the other event that coincides with my previously
scheduled migraine. Well, I should have taken my first white pill last night but
instead I started a new pack.
About 10 minutes ago I started seeing these floaty-firefly-looking things in my
vision which only means one thing.

Gluten Heaven


Well another week of school has past and posted below are the finished products
of my Thursday night Baking class. Feel free to drool. I actually brought home
the cinnamon raisin walnut bread and 4 of the cinnamon rolls. Sounds like
breakfast around the sardine-can will be exciting this weekend.

The Interview


1) Have you ever borrowed anything and not returned it? If so, what was it?
A Prom Dress. The guy I went to my senior prom in Houston with was a junior.
He moved with his family the week after I graduated to a small town up near
Dallas. I went to Baylor the following year. He called in April and asked me
to go with him to his senior prom. I couldn't possibly go to two proms with
the same guy wearing the same dress, even though I had the absolutely most
gorgeous prom dress I have ever seen my senior year. One of my best friends
from high school, HMMC, was going to college not far from Baylor and the next
time she went home to Houston she picked up her prom dress from our junior
year and brought it to me. I wore it to the prom and had it cleaned and hung
it up in my closet. That dress has been moved to probably 10 different closets
since then, but it's still in the dry cleaner plastic wrap.
2) What kind of fabric softener do you use?
I use Snuggle Fabric Softener on towels and pajamas. Most of the time I forget
to put it in and my washing machine really does not like that ball thingy. One
thing that I didn't think about when planning my budget to come to culinary
school was … one the gallon of bleach per week that I go thru. This has
slowed down quite a bit this quarter since I am only taking one lab class but
the last two quarters when I was in the lab cooking three nights a week I was
constantly bleaching my chef's jacket and apron.

3) Most embarrassing moment. Explain.
My life has been full of embarrassing moments. I guess that is because I
embarrass so easily. Luckily I tend to forget about these incidents fairly
quickly so as I'm sitting here at work (yeah, see what they pay me to do?
Hehe) I am having trouble deciding on which memory I can actually remember as
the most embarrassing one. I went to a small Baptist high school in Houston.
While most public high schools compete in what is known as UIL (University
Interscholastic League), private schools compete in TAPPS (Texas Association
of Private and Parochial Schools). While I was in high school and even a few
years after that, TAPPS State Competitions where always held at Baylor. I was
in Choir my 10th – 12th grade years and competed in a couple of other events
(math, computers, and art). The choir won the title of State Champion in 1988
and that is a title they have yet to relinquish. In April of 1990, HMMC and I
had gone to eat lunch at Roznovsky's Hamburgers with the guys BM & BW for
off-campus lunch.
Everyone going to the state competition in "TheArmpitOfHell" was leaving that afternoon
and I mentioned to HMMC at lunch that we needed to stop on the way back to
school and get some AAA's for my portable TV (yes, I said a portable TV…
it was 1990 for heavens sake, I thought I was cool for even having that neat
of a gadget) for us to watch on the way up. HMMC, in front of the guys, said
“Is it really necessary for you to talk about your bra size in front of the
guys?” Let me just tell you that my face turned about 4000 shades of red and
I could have just sunk down into my chair and evaporated. As I was morphing
into different hues of crimson, I started to chant probably one of the most
memorable phrases out of Judy Blume's tween-age novel, Are You There God?
It's Me Margaret. I am now here to say… be careful, be VERY careful, for
what you ask for… you just might get it. Well, the embarrassment of this
weekend didn't stop at lunch. All 100+ choir students, 40+ band students,
and the few academic nerds that weren't in band or choir all stayed in a
hotel across I35 from Baylor. This hotel had an indoor swimming pool and most
of us congregated near the pool that night. I am a naturally high-strung and
nervous person and since this was the first trip I had been on, I was
EXTREMELY nervous about walking around in a bathing suit in front of all the
guys in my class (Rat, Zoo, Horton, Alf and the rest of the animals that I
went to school with.) Now, I would give ANYTHING to have the cute-little
figure I had back when I was 16. I wasn't as flat as HMMC would have led you
to believe and I could walk into any store and pick up any size 8 and it would
fit. Ok, back to the story. I had just swum a couple of laps in the pool and
had gotten out of the pool and was walking towards the lawn chair where my
towel was. I successfully walked down the long side of the pool and navigated
the corner and as I started walking along side the width of the pool, two of
the most gorgeous guys (Rat, (otherwise known as Dubilated) and Elway) in my
class were walking towards me. What I wouldn't have given for a quick dose
of Lexapro (Prozac, Demerol, etc.) right then. Anyway, the closer they got to
me the more nervous I got. And right as we passed each other, Rat jumped and
said “boo.” My left leg forgot that it was attached to my body and decided
to get back in the pool. The rest of my body wanted to stay somewhat dry. The
edge of the pool was covered with stones and cut my bathing suit… right
between the legs. I attempted to swing my right leg back into the pool. When I
did, I hit my hip bone (which back then protruded out further than my stomach)
on those same dumb stones and cut a good gash into my skin. So, now, not only
had I made a fool of myself by falling into the pool, my hip bone was bleeding
and my bathing suit no longer completely covered the rectangular area between
my legs. I stayed in the pool for a long time that night, trying not to cry
and waiting for all the guys to disappear and a friend to hand me my towel so
that I could get out without flashing everyone in sight. It was bad enough
that in my physical science class the year before I had divulged the fact that
I liked to work on cars with my grandfather… So, if you take the combination
of working on cars and a torn bathing suit, you arrive at the nickname I had
all the way thru high school that I was never able to get rid of. What was my
nickname? Hmmm… Let me see how I can put this nicely. Either go to the
movies or find a old TV rerun of The Dukes of Hazzard and find out what the
name was of the character who played the automotive mechanic.
P.S. I don't know why I just don't come out and tell you my nickname... it's
not like it wasn't on the back of my letterjacket I wore around for two years.
Yeah I do... I wanna make you work! HEHE!
4) Where do you wanna be in 5 years?
In five years, I will be nearly 36 years old and barring any major disasters,
I will be done with school (hopefully by June 2007 at the absolute latest),
and working. I'm not sure where I want to work, but I have been giving some
thought of looking into working as a chef at a resort or on a cruise ship. I
could live on the ship and not have to pay rent and hopefully be able to use
most of my salary to pay for the student loan debt that I have acquired from
both Baylor and Culinary School. At, least that is what I am thinking right
now.

5) First love. Who was he? What happened to him?
I never really dated much or had any opportunities to experience that First
Love until I got to college. My sophomore year I met him. It's just to bad he
never had any clue just how much he meant to me and how much he changed my
life. He was killed in a car accident on January 1, 2004 at 1:05 am. His death
also brought other people into my life that are now lifelong friends (we have
a different kind of bond than normal relationships.) We will never forget
him... at least I know I won't.

Preparing For An Interview


I have been tagged for an interview by kimmyk over at I Have No Name. I am
working on my answers and will post them this evening. I have some old pictures
at home that would help illustrate my answers and I need to go scan them in so
that I can post them as well. This just goes to prove my point that I need to
bite the bullet and just scan in ALL of my pictures so I will have them at a
moments notice and not have to go search thru albums and boxes to find that one
special picture that I know I have, somewhere, somehow. The only problem with
that is.. then, I will want to go buy another harddrive and take my computer and
scanner to my grandparents and scan in all her pictures so that they will be
saved for eternity, especially the pictures that were taken in the 1920s that
are so beautiful and priceless. Like I really have time to do that. You know, I
think I just figured out what I'm going to do for her for christmas. Scan in all
her pictures and make an album or calendar or something with them. HEY OFFICERB,
WANNA HELP??? Here are the questions I am answering: 1) Have you ever borrowed

I'm Not As Thunk As You Drink I Am...


Occifer.
Last week we drank tea and coffee during our beverage class, it was horrible.. I
will never understand how people drink tea and coffee without some sort of sugar
or lemon or cream. Tonight was our first real "tasting" and we covered spirits.
It fell on a real convienent day, as one of my classmates got her first 8 shots
on her 21st birthday for free. So, lets see here... what did I drink?

Busy Baking Bees


Last night's Baking class was crazy. Our class has 22 students in it compaired
to the 14 that are in the Monday afternoon's class. Keep in mind that there is
only 6 tables that will somewhat-comfortably fit 4 students. We are just about
full. We started the evening in lecture and then she broke us up into 11 groups
of 2. Each group was in charge of making Soft Rolls, Vienna Rolls (hoagies), a
Coyote Roll, and Cinnamon Walnut Raisin Bread. In addition to this, the left
side of the room was to make oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies (one each
per table, so each group of two made one batch of cookies), while the right hand
side of the room made sugar and peanut butter cookies. My group made the oatmeal
raisin cookies and our tablemates made the chocolate chip (hence the two guy's
names written on the parchment paper.) Because our textbooks haven't come in
yet, the Chef has been xeroxing copies of the recipes for us. This creates a
problem when you get into the classroom and haven't had a chance to look over
the recipes and plan, (which to do first, which to do last, etc.) Because of
this the majority of the class didn't leave until about 11:15pm and there were
still a handful of students waiting for their breads to come out of the oven
when I left. The majority of us that left early didn't finish all of the items
and our Cinnamon Walnut Raisin bread dough is in the freezer and we will finish
it next week. These pictures are being posted late because I have yet to get my
computer completely restored from the coma it suffered during the storm on
Friday the 13th, oops 15th. I dont have my Adobe Photoshop installed yet and
have been unable to crop these pictures and fix the lighting so that they show
up better on the web. I finally decided today (the 26th) that I would go ahead
and post them and hopefully you will be able to see them ok. ENJOY!

When you smell smoke....

There is Fire Crackers?

I think my upstairs neighbors have lost their calendar. Apparently they think that last night, and the night before that, and the 13 nights before that ... are all the FOURTH of July.

My next door neighbor, Matt, and I are really getting frustrated and have started taking turns calling security and reporting the *POWs* we hear every evening. This is happening about 4 - 5 times every evening since the 5th of July.

Until last night we were confused... we would hear a firecracker go off, directly in front of our apartment, and then immediately walk outside and there would be no one in sight. How they were fast enough to light a firecracker and get back in their apartment upstairs before we could get outside was baffling. But we solved the puzzle.

About 11:15 pm last night, I was sitting in my apartment, on the floor, finishing putting my computer back together (yeah, I actually put the cover back on it for the first time in over a month,)... and all of a sudden I started smelling smoke. Scared the you-know-what out of me and I panicked. I quickly started unplugging stuff from my computer even though it wasn't even plugged in. When the panic subsided about a minute later my brain kicked in... and I thought to myself... "Self? That's not smoke, that's gunpowder."

I immediately walked outside about the time to see the POW. My little blonde-dingbat, republican, daddy-pays-for-everything, rich-wench, "princess"-licenseplate bmw-driving, bratty upstairs neighbors were lighting firecrackers INSIDE their apartment and then tossing them out the window where it would pop right at the bottom of the stairs.

Last night, when security got there, they actually saw the remnants of the explosives at the bottom of the stairs. They went up and knocked on the door, but of course.. they were too much of a chicken"poop" to answer the door. We were told that security would tell the office managers today and that if it happened again to make sure we call after every single time a firecracker goes off. After a while, someone is going to get tired of the calls and do something about it.

I just hope they do something about it before my entire apartment building goes up in SMOKE.

Screeeeccching Halt!


Friday I so eloquently proclaimed that my third quarter of culinary school was
rolling right along. That was until the Mother of All Storms (that is since I
moved to Dallas) decided to roll right on into town. The WENCH! Anyway. I stayed
late at work on Friday to make up my hours from going to the neurologist on
Wednesday and then I attempted to go home. My first plan was to get to my side
of town, find a nice warm plate of cheese enchiladas and then work on homework.
The plan was stalled when it took me an hour to get home (13 miles) at 7:30pm.
The Wench had succeeded in knocking out the power to all of the traffic lights
near my apartment. I finally get closer to home and I see that the origin of my
warm plate of enchiladas had no electricity either. Well heck! I usually check
my email and such from work by remote connecting to my home computer but about
4:00 I noticed that my home computer had gone offline. Apparently that is when
the power problems started. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the
electricity was on in my apartment, I just had to deal with all the 12:00
flashing clocks. I walked up to my computer and pressed the power button. I
beeped at me and then gave me an error, asking me to start up in safe mode. I
said ok, safe mode is fine with me... And I left the room to go put on my
pajamas, and to gather up the ritual Friday night laundry. I came back in the
room 10 minutes later and it was still sitting there. So, here it is. Friday
night of my 1st week of my third quarter. I have a paper due Monday (that I had
already started) and a Journal due Thursday.. And my computer wouldn't boot.
Luckily, I knew that my harddrive was having problems and had already bought a
new one and had it loaded up with XP and Office. All I had to do was switch the
drives and I would be back online. Great! But what about all my stuff? I needed
to pay bills, but I couldn't because my Money file was on that hard drive, I
needed to finish my paper but I couldn't because my paper was on that hard
drive, I could have started on the paper that was due next week but the
reference materials I had emailed from work to home prior to the power outage..
Was.. Guess what? On that hard drive. And my warm plate of cheese enchiladas
turned into a Totino's Three Cheese Frozen Pizza. Saturday I was exhausted. The
weather, the frustration from the computer, the end of my first week back to
school... All I wanted to do was sleep.. And that is what I did most of the day.
I think I took 2 naps on Saturday. Maybe that explains why I was awake at 7am on
Sunday. Sunday morning... Ok, time to get down to business and fix this
computer. I set the old harddrive to slave and prayed to God that the new
harddrive would recognize it when it booted. And what do you know? The new
harddrive didn't even boot... The old "supposedly fried but instead I guess it
was just in a coma" harddrive booted. WTH? I switched the cables and the new
harddrive came up. It was at this point that I made the wrong decision. I said
to myself, "self? Why don't you just go ahead and set up the new harddrive since
you computer is already in 100 pieces all over your living room floor?" You
know, that sounded like a good idea. Until I started pulling stuff over from one
drive to the other. I kept getting these "you do not have privilege" errors. And
the errors weren't on the folders that contained my English papers from my
freshman year of Baylor, oh no.. They were the folders that contained all my
mp3s, my email, my money file and my entire Culinary School folder. I am a geek,
but all this hardware and fixing computers is still new to me .. So under the
advice of Mr. Boredom Himself.. I switched harddrives again and was going to
moved these folders in the opposite direction. Well, guess what... That
harddrive decided to go into another coma when I tried to boot off of it. 30 or
so minutes later I finally get it booted and then starts freezing trying to load
the few things I had in the startup folder. Another hour later I finally get up
and running on my old hard drive and start exporting .pst files from outlook and
copying all those folders I wasn't supposed to have access to, to a central
location on the C drive that I knew was working earlier. Outlook is the slowest
thing in the world when it is exporting. I seriously think I could have manually
typed out all the emails in that .pst file faster than it exported it. So while
it was doing its thing I decided I might as well go take a nap in the bathtub.
Then I cooked 6 pork chops to bring for lunches this week, and packed a
microwave bowl, a measuring cup and 6 cups of Minute Rice in a ziploc baggy.
Yes.. In case you haven't kept up with the time.. I am cooking pork chops at
1:30 in the morning. Then I go hang-up and put up all the laundry that I had
done this weekend, put the clean sheets on the bed, switched hard drives again
and started importing that email file and moving those other folders to the new
drive, watched the rebroadcast of the opening night at Lakewood Church in
Houston, cut out and organize all the coupons from Sunday's paper, get my books
and stuff together for class tonight, and I even untangled about 20 paper clips.
Then outlook finished importing on the new drive. 4:15... BED. 6:00 Alarm
Clock... DAMN! Snooze, DAMN!, Snooze, DAMN!, Snooze, DAMN!, Snooze, DAMN!,
Snooze, 6:45 DAMN!, I finally get out of bed, rejoicing in the fact that I had
taken a bath and washed my hair before I went to bed in clean sheets and that
all I had to do was to get dressed, brush my teeth and put on a little makeup. I
get to work and the first thing I do is to start formulating the email to my
professor asking for more time to turn in tonight's assignment because
"MotherNature, TXU and DopplerRadar" had it in for me this weekend. Luckily, he
responded and I have until Wednesday to get my paper done. I have beverage class
tonight.. We will be tasting and discussing all sorts of different teas and
coffees this week. My computer class tomorrow evening has been canceled in
exchange for our field trip on Friday. So tomorrow night when I get off work.. I
will go do exactly what I had planned on doing Friday night before my plans came
to a Screeeeccching Halt.. A warm plate of cheese enchiladas and to finish my
paper. P.S. I'm pretty darn proud of myself for fixing my own darn computer this
weekend. P.S.S. QueenB, otherwise known as my mother, wanted me to clarify to my

Third Quarter Is


Rolling Right Along.
(hehehe, I know that was bad, but I couldn't help myself)
Monday night's Beverage class was a blast. We didn't get to drink, yet, but the
Chef that is teaching it is an absolute NUT! We started the class with the "the
people inhabiting this planet would have never gotten to where we are today
without the invention of alcohol" speech. I'm sure the teachers at my small
baptist high school in houston are turning over in the smog just hearing me say
that. Next Monday night we will be trying different teas and coffees. Then we
will spend two weeks on Beer, two weeks on Liquor and then the last five weeks
of class on wine.
Oh yeah, another thing we learned in class... did anyone know that Budweiser is
the "King Of Stupid?"
Tuesday night's Computers in the Food Industry class was interesting. It
certainly started my computer geekiness and OCD bubbling towards the surface. We
were working in spreadsheets, (my specialty) to learn how to price standardized
recipes and how to know what to charge for an item on a menu. While most people
were learning how to type =A6 in a cell, I was writing VLOOKUP formulas to the
Inventory file and started working on a conversion chart so that it would
automatically convert 1 teaspoon to 1/6th of an ounce.
Wednesday night's Career Development class is all about writing resumes, cover
letters, thank you letters and interviewing skills. This is the class I will be
sitting in for 3 hours the night of my birthday, and we have our practical
midterm that day... dressed up in interview attire and participating in
interviews that will be videotaped.
Last night's Baking class was fun, although I was hot and exhausted by the time
I got home. The Chef said that they have this problem at the first of every
quarter.. the air conditioning not being able to keep up with 4 400degree ovens
and 30 kids in one classroom. Chef went over the syllabus, etc., for about an
hour and a half and then we made Soft Rolls and Foccacia. While the dough was
proofing she lectured about the basics of baking and yeast.
The school's restaurant opened last night and she told us that while she
lectured, if we wanted to order food and eat, we were more than welcome to. I
ordered a Caprese Salad and a Cup of Mushroom Soup. The soup was good, as was
the Caprese Salad, although it seems to be getting towards the end of the
"fresh" season for tomatoes and getting closer to that "plastic version" stuff
they sell in the grocery store.

Guilty Pleasures.


The life of FFTVS, thus far...I saw this on FullOfIt's blog and because I am
apparently a thief I decided to do this. 10 Years Ago:
I had just finished my junior year at Baylor and going to summer school and I
was looking forward to my 21st birthday the next month. I had my own apartment
and a friend of mine, Meenu (who is now an assistant DA in Texas) lived with
me for the summer. I took English 2300 and Computer Science 1340 that summer
and that was the first time in my life I had ever made an A in English. Part
of it also had to do with the fact that the professor let us skip an entire
page of the final exam (our choice) if we had perfect attendance. Since my
summer-roommate and I were in the same class we made sure we both made it to
class everyday. We also became fast friends with the guy who sat next to me,
Peter, and we turned into an inseparable group that summer. His apartment
complex was across the street from mine and the three of us would either take
turns cooking dinner or making our small version of a “potluck.” That was
also the summer that I had my relapse of mono (from the previous January) and
I earned the burn scar on my right arm (that is still there!) when an iron
that I had put UP on a shelf to cool fell down and landed on my bent arm ...
right at my elbow… when I stepped on the cord. This was also the summer of
the last time that I saw one of my best friends from high school, Sarah,
alive. I went to visit her during one of my trips home to Houston that summer
and she passed away that November from a diabetic coma. I still miss her.

This was my entire Honors Computer Science Class my Senior Year of High School.

5 Years Ago:
I had just finished my first year as a high school teacher. I had taught
computer science and webmastering at Sealy High School. It had been less than
a year since I moved everything I owned from "TheArmpitOfHell" to Sealy and bought my first
home. I was in a small but growing minority of single female homeowners. Sealy
decided that they were going to start offering dual credit computer science
thru Blinn Jr College and all of a sudden I was out of a job. I spent the
entire summer looking for a new teaching job. It found that job at Hightower
High School in FortBend ISD, Missouri City, Texas. I was under the crazy
impression that since I got a $8,000 pay raise I could handle driving 56-miles
one-way to work everyday. It was worth it to keep my house. I miss it and I
wish I would have never sold it.
My House In Sealy.
1 Year Ago:
I was living in hell, oops, sorry, I mean "TheArmpitOfHell". I was working as an assistant
manager at McAlister's Deli on I35. Summers at that store are depressingly
slow since most Baylor students go home for the summer. The management team
went thru a pretty big transition that year and out of the 8 managers who
worked there during 2004 only one is still there. One of the 7 other managers
came into our store in June and we hated each other at first but by August we
were great friends and still are. It just goes to show you that first
impressions aren't always correct.
Yesterday:
I left work at 5:45 and went to my Computers In The Food Industry class from
6:30 – 8:30. The first thing the chef talked about was moving our class time
to an earlier time. Because I don't get off work until 5:30 we moved class
to 6. He also told us that we wouldn't have class next Tuesday night, but
instead, next Friday afternoon we are taking a field trip to Ben E Keith and
spending most of the day with the IT department. Sounds like a fun time to me.
After class I went home, ate dinner and decided to go to bed about 10:30. It
was just as I was making this decision that my best friend, Becky, called and
we talked on the phone until 12:45 this morning.
Today:
I left home about ten minutes early and had to go by the school to sign some
form for something for financial aid. I don't know why because last quarter
I didn't have to sign anything but oh well. I got to work at 8:40 and I am
leaving at 2pm to go to the Neurologist and to do the labwork that my
Gynocologist ordered about two weeks ago. After the round of doctors I will
head over to school where I will have Career Development tonight from 6:30 –
9:30. After class I will eat dinner, pack my uniform for class tomorrow night
and then go to bed. Someone remind me to pack my camera in case we bake
something on the first day of baking.
*PS. Now I get to leave at 1:30 because I cant take my lunch. I was going to
make a tuna sandwich and someone stole the can opener from the break room.
Tomorrow:
Tomorrow is my 2nd early day of the week when I have to be at work at 7:30 so
that I can leave at 4:30 and make it to school in time to change into my
uniform and not be late to class. I have Baking from 5:30 – 10:30. Then I
will go home and maybe eat a bowl of cereal for dinner and go to bed.

Third Times The Charm


Well... summer break is over and my third quarter of culinary school starts
tonight. My first quarter I did great, but I didn't have a job and I got sick.
Last quarter I got really sick and just about drove myself crazy working and
going to school. This quarter I have my schedule set up where it wont be quite
so hectic. Last quarter I felt like I was burning my candle at both ends and
come Saturday I wouldn't want to do anything but sleep. My goal this quarter is
to make it thru this quarter... until September 24th... without getting sick.
Tonight from 5:30 - 8:30 I have my Beverage ID & Management class. According to
the class catalog.. "In this lcass the students will learn about Americand
European wines as well as about malted and distilled beverages. In addition to
learning and practicing wine and beverage service skills, students will also
learn how these beverages are produced and bottled, how to identify quality
products, how to pair wines and other beverages with food, and the history
behind fermented and distilled beverages. By the end of the course, students
will have composed and set up a beverage menu and will be able to identify the
properties of a wine. All students will be exposed to liquor laws pertaining to
food service operations as well as management techniques for handling wines and
spirits." Tuesday night from 6:30 - 8:30 I have Computers In The Food Industry.
Hmmm, I wonder if they will let me take the final tomorrow and just not show up
the rest of the quarter? Eh, probably not. It should be an "interesting" class
considering that the Chef I had 1st quarter is teaching it and he's a computer
geek/chef (hmm, where have I seen that combination before?) and this is the
first time they have ever offered this class on campus instead of thru the
Online System. Wednesday night from 6:30 - 9:30 I have Culinary Career
Development and on Thursday from 5:30 - 10:30 I have BAKING! I am also taking
Nutrition as an online course. For the last two quarters I have been in class
until 10:30pm at least three nights a week, this quarter I only have one 10:30
late night, one 9:30 and the rest are 8:30pm. The biggest differences I see this
making are 1) can go home and eat dinner and not spend money thru Wendy's
between 10 and 11pm; 2) can go home and do a load of laundry and the buzzer on
the dryer going off sometime before 1am; 3) classes start later so I only have
to go to work at 7:30am on Mondays and Thursdays; and lastly 4) I can do some
homework when I get home from class and not try to put it all off until
Saturday. Due to recent events, I am hoping that I will appreciate not buring
this candle at both ends and go to bed earlier and be able to stay awake at
work, {yes, the EL is still driving me nuts (and even more so)} and keep up with
my school work so I'm not constantly trying to play catchup. Did you know that
when you burn a candle, you are only supposed to burn it for as many hours as it
is in diameter? And when it is done burning and cool enough to the touch.. you
are supposed to hug it back into shape. Also, if your candle gets bruised and
dull... a good massage with a pair of pantyhose will bring back the shine and
mask the bruises. Hmm... all of a sudden I wish I was a candle.

SPF- Magazines Full of Framed Pet Peeves


This is my favorite framed picture of my parents and myself. I believe this was
taken sometime in 1979. These are my magazines. I only subscribe to Martha
Stewart Living (I bought it from some kid for a fundraiser a few years ago and I
think my subscription is about to run out.) The Baylor Line and the Baylor
Magazine are both sent to me because I am an alumni. The Sizzle magazine is
passed out at school every month. This has got to be my absolute biggest
household pet peeve. Cutting out, organizing and shopping with coupons. Coupons
are such a royal pain in the rear, and half the time when you get to the store,
they dont even carry the brand you have a coupon for. And when they do have the
brand, half the time its not even worth it because you have to buy two or three
of something to save a quarter. Unfortunately, I have become very good at
shopping with coupons. I went grocery shopping last night for the first time
since the end of May. I bought $212.68 in groceries and after my Kroger card
discounts and my coupons... I only ended up paying $120.83.
Damn I'm Good.

SPF - Way Late, But Better Than Never


Well.. I am finally updating my blog after a 13 day absence. My first assignment
is to catch up with the past two SPFs before school starts on Monday. This is
something I "borrowed and forgot to return." I borrowed this studfinder from
some friends when I moved into my apartment in January... unfortunately, it
hasn't found me a Stud yet.
I received this spoon rest and oven mitt from Santa two years ago when I got my
really nice set of Emeril cookware. Don't get me wrong, I like this present...
but that crazy obsessive complusive, manic depressive, senile double personality
of mine wont let me use it because "it doesn't match" everything else in my
kitchen.

I have never been much of a perfume-kinda gal, but I will admit to having a
severe addiction to Bath and Body Works. This are just the four fragrances I
wear on a normal basis... lets not get into the number of bottles that are in
the cabinets that I didn't pull out.

This is my key chain. It has the key for my apartment, my parents house, my
storage shed in "TheArmpitOfHell", my mail box key, and my car key & remote. The Lake Tahoe
key chain was my souvenier from my vacation in July 2002 and the pink church key
comes in handy more often than you would imagine, especially since most of the
classrooms at school dont have one.

A couple of broken hearts and some hard lessons learned... the only momentos I
have kept from past relationships.

This is the view of my front door from the sidewalk. Exciting isn't it? And
don't let the door fool you, its about the size of a sardine can once you walk
in.
