I Survived

Upload Video at DropShots.com

Thursday morning, December 29th, 6:45 am. My mother calls and wakes me up. She said they were in Waxahachie and would be at my apartment by 8am. They actually got there about 7:45 and unloaded the car. We left a little after 8am and headed to Grapevine Surgical Center where my bursectomy was to be performed.

We arrived a little before 9am and I filled out some paperwork. And then I went back to put on those darn paper gowns and answer about 10,000 medical questions. My nurse then gave me a numbing shot in my hand and put my IV in on the inside edge of my right wrist.

I then faced the absolute worst part of this entire ordeal, waiting. It was about 9:20 and I didn't get wheeled back into the OR until after 11:15. The bed I was laying on was horribly uncomfortable. Those adjustable beds always sound like a good idea, until you have to sit on one for 2 hours nervous as heck.

The anesthesiologist and another nurse wheeled me into the OR and asked me to move over to the other table. This table felt like it was about 6 inches wide and that I was falling off of it. They started to strap me in and put an oxygen mask on my face and the thoughts of claustorphobia started to set in. Then the anesthesiologist said that I would start to feel something burning as it went into my veins. He told me to take three deep breaths and that is the last thing I remember.

When they woke me up I was freeziing. They wrapped me in warm blankets that hooked up to some machine that warmed me up pretty quick. I told the nurse my IV was hurting my hand and she took it out. My veins have never liked IVs and the only vein that decided to rear its ugly head was right in the bend of my wrist and my hand had decided to swell since the IV was put in. Combined with my polyneuropathy, I was ready to have that needle out of my hand.

Then my nurse brought me some grape juice and animal crackers. Now that I was all nice and toasty under the blankets, and the fact that I had just woken up from surgery, this was probably not the best combination of snacks I could have picked. I started to feel nausous and I ended up getting sick. After that I felt all hunky dory and was ready to go home and get some lunch.

My nurse helped me get dressed, and told my parents to pull the car around to the ramp so it would be easier to wheel me out in the wheelchair. It sat there a few minutes wondering what was taking so long.

What are the odds, that I move up to Dallas, fall and bust my bursa sac, find a doctor to do my surgery and that after a quick introduction between my parents and my nurse... they realize that my nurse's great uncle was one of, my grandfather, Peep's closest and dearest old friends and that they used to work together for years and years at GT.?

Anyway, I slid into the backseat of my parent's car and we started home. I think the first words out of my mouth were, "I'm hungry." After thinking a few minutes I decided that I wanted a baked potato. We went to Dickey's BBQ and I had a Baked Potato and asked them to put the Brisket and the BBQ Sauce on the side until I could see how my stomach was gonna handle food. I ended up putting it all together and it tasted wonderful. It was nearly 4pm and I hadn't had anything since about 8pm the night before.

My dad helped me walk into my condo (Smart me found a place with 6 concrete steps between the parking lot and my front door) and then I laid down in bed. My dad left to go back home as he had to work the next day. I slept until about 645pm and then I movedto the rocking chair in the living room where I sat and watched TV for a few hours.

CricketYank came over about 8pm and brought me his laptop for me to use while I recovered over the next few days. Thank you CY! I have really enjoyed having a laptop and it just makes me want one that much more. My mom baked me a sweet potato and a pork chop and steamed some broccoli. It was a good and satisfing dinner. I was proud of her, since she hates pork chops to begin with.

Friday by about 6am I was tired of sleeping and ready to get up but I decided to be nice and go back to sleep until about 9am and let my mom get some more sleep. About 9am we got up, had breakfast, watched TV and played on the computers all day. When I woke up I notced that the ace bandage and dressing on my knee (that was supposed to stay in place until Sunday) was down by my ankles. It wasn't wrapped very well. This was the first time I saw the actual incision site. I have one long incision down the middle of my knee with 8 black stiches holding it closed. I ended up taking off most of the gauze and cotton padding and just leaving one big bandaid and the ace bandage in place.

Except for a few trips to the bathroom, I didn't leave the rocking chair until after 11pm last night. There was not much of anything on TV and I actually worked on a contract for work from about 7pm - 10pm.

About 11pm I sent my mother to bed so hopefully she could get some rest before I got in there and started snoring. I think I finally went to bed about 3am. We slept until about 10am today and then made the decision that my dad would come get my mom tomorrow instead of today. I am starting to get a bad case of stir-crazy and am not really ready to get out and drive myself around town.

About 1pm, after some breakfast and Saran Wrapping my ace bandage and putting a 40gallon ice chest in the tub, I sat down and took a shower. My doc's PA made a big deal about not standing up in the shower because if I slipped, planted that leg too hard I could tear my ACL and then I would really be having some knee surgery.

Now, I am sitting here back in my rocking chair, laptop in my lap, finally updating my blog while my mother gets dressed. We are going to get out in a little while and go get something to eat, anything to get out of the house.

I still don't have the camera dock and stuff unpacked. Actually right now I cant even get to that side of the computer desk and I wouldn't be able to crawl behind my computer to plug it in anyway.

I survived the surgery. Thank you to those of you who stopped by and commented and left your wellwishes and thoughts and prayers (and e-postcard.. thanks Ness(a)lee).

I will be backblogging a little later this evening after we go eat and posting a special tribute to a great friend that I lost 12 years ago tonight. Until then... someone get the disco ball off of me please.

Knee Surgery

surgery.jpg

Well. I left work at 1:30 today and I wont be back until next Tuesday. My pre-op appointment was at 2pm and I need to go pick up my pain meds in a little while.

My surgery is at 10:30 tomorrow, Thursday, December 29th. I'm scared to say the least. I know Ness(a)Lee keeps telling me that surgery is nothing and even "fun" but that hasn't seemed to calm my nerves.

I am borrowing CricketYank's laptop so that I can lay in bed and work and blog on Friday. I hope I feel up to it. I have one project at work that no matter what I do, I continue to run about two weeks behind on, and I'm hoping to use these next couple of days and a laptop to catch up.

As soon as I get my camera dock unpacked I'll post pictures of my knee. I know you all will be waiting.

Still Not Unpacked

I feel like I am in over my head. I moved on Sunday, December 18th. That night, after moving everything to the new apartment, taking my helpers to eat dinner and cleaning up the old apartment.. I had to search thru a sea of corrugated to find my bed.

On top of work, being sick and Christmas... I just haven't had a chance to finish unpacking. My camera dock is still packed, as is my printer and most of my shoes.

Unpacking now seems like such an huge task that I don't know how I will ever get done. I'm in over my head and drowning.

O Holy Night

O Holy Night

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

Wishing all of my blog friends a Joyous and Merry Christmas.

See you in a couple of days.

Not Dead Yet

deadsleep.jpg

Cause if I was, I wouldn't be this tired.

Last Thursday I stayed at work until nearly 7:30 and then I went to my new apartment and unloaded the stuff in my car.

Friday morning I got up and loaded my car with junk from the old apartment and drove to the new place and unloaded it. It was cold outside and I wanted to warm up, so I stayed inside for about an hour or so and unpacked just about everything I could that wasn't waiting on furniture. I went and got another load from the old apartment and grabbed a burger at Wendy's. About 2:30, I laid down on the empty apartment floor to take a nap. I wasn't feeling good.

I have been sick since the week before Thanksgiving. I have had a cough that would send lungs flying across the room and all around feeling crappy. The alarm installer was supposed to be there at 3pm so I thought I would just get in a quick nap. The next thing I know its after 4pm.

I quickly call the alarm company to make sure I didn't sleep thru the installer knocking on the door. They said they would page him and give him my number. About another 45 minutes later he finally called. He said that he had called me at 2pm and left a voice mail that he was going to be late. I said, well you must have called my home phone and I haven't been there all day. It was then that I had to explain the concept of VOIP phones.

My home phone and my cell phone have the same area code, but interestingly enough, I do not live in that area code. He said he couldn't have been calling my home number because it was a 254 phone number. And he had been calling that number all day, even after being paged because he saw the 254 and realized that no one would have to out of town phone numbers so instead of dialing the number he was paged with, he kept hitting redial on his cell phone. Well, guess what! I do have two out of town phone numbers. One is my home phone that runs over VOIP and the other is my cell phone that I never changed the number when I moved to Dallas last January.

He said he was just fixing to return to the office and not come install my system since I wouldn't answer the phone, when he finally decided to call the other number and Voila! I answered. Imagine that.

He finally left my new place a little after 7pm. He had to install a new battery on the system and install a siren since there was never one installed when the original system was. Since his company didn't install the original system, he also had to break into my box to get to the panel to program everything. Fun! Then I went back to my apartment and packed and slept some more.

Saturday morning I woke up and loaded my car with all of my computer and electronics (except for my TV because I couldn't pick it up). About 10:00am, CricketYank showed up and we moved all the electronics to my new place. We decided to go get something to eat when Comcast called and said they would be there in 30 minutes. So instead of going to eat Middle Eastern food, we ended up at Wendy's right down the street and hurried back so that we wouldn't miss the cable/internet installers.

So about an hour and twenty minutes after the "30-minutes" phone call, I placed a call to Comcast to see where they were. Twenty minutes later, they called and said they would be there in 5 minutes. This time, the installer's actual cell phone number showed up on caller id. About another 20 minutes go by and then I call and say .. "did yall get lost?" .. to which they said yes.

After calling at 12:10 to tell us they would be there in 30 minutes, they finally showed up at 2:20. Then they couldn't figure out how to set up my cable since the leader lines in the box outside where 1) not labeled and 2) cracked. It took forever for them to get a signal. Then they decided they had to take all my old equipment that was working fine and replace it with new stuff, just because I had moved. This meant they had to get the new internet modem to work.. which took another hour. CricketYank left about an hour before the cable people did. He had spent the entire day telling me to go to CareNow and see a doctor. I guess my cough didn't sound good.

Sunday, I got up and had to drive my dumb-self over to my new apartment. There wasn't a bed over there yet, but all my stuff like toothbrushes and clothes were. I got ready for the day and stuck a migraine patch on my forehead while I waited for my parents to drive up from "TheArmpitOfHell." They got there and then we drove over to the old apartment and waited for my friends with the pickup and trailer to show up. Not long after they arrived, my other friend, MC, showed up.

We loaded all the remaining boxes and all the furniture into the back of the pickup, the trailer, MC's car, my parent's car, my VUE. After driving about 20 miles an hour we arrived at the new place and started unloading everything. Things are piled to the ceiling and haven't moved from where they landed.

I was feeling horrible and every time I coughed I got yelled at... Go To The Doctor! After unloading everything, my parents left to go back home and the 5 of us went to dinner. We ate hamburgers, soups, beers and hot apple cider at the StoneleighP. Then, I had the wonderful job of returning to my old ghetto apartment and clean. I had to turn in the keys the next day and although the place was completely filthy when I moved in, I wasn't going to leave it that way.

I got home about 11pm and went to bed after a good hour of wading thru the sea of corrugated until I actually FOUND my bed and uncovered it. I woke up at 7:57am and I had absolutely no voice at all. I somehow managed to get the lady at the doctor's office to hear me so that I could make an appointment. I emailed my boss and told him I would be in the next day and then I went to the doctor.

Two shots worth of antibiotics, one tetanus shot, and a prescription for another antibiotic, 1 tube full of blood, and a diagnosis of a lung infection (and the word pneumonia mentioned,) I walked out of the doctor's office. I drove to the school and dropped off my key to the HousingDirector and then I went to Panera Bread and bought a quart of soup. Then I went to CVS and waited for my prescription and did a little bit of grocery shopping right there in the pharmacy. (Maybe I belong in the ghetto?). I went home and went to bed.

That evening I woke up and went with CricketYank to go get a wireless adapter for my PC and eat dinner. He came back to my apartment and set up my computer for me. With the CPU and all being on the ground under my desk, and my bad knee (1 more week until surgery) I just couldn't crawl under there to set everything up. I stayed up until nearly 2am trying to unpack stuff after CY left.

Tuesday I went back to work and stayed in my little corner with the door shut as to not get anyone else sick. I stayed late and then went home and attempted to get some things unpacked until about 1:30am. Last night I left work early and attended my old next door neighbor's work Christmas dinner at Maggiano's. When I got home I was completely exhausted and passed out on the couch waiting for Emeril to come on.

The next thing I knew it was about midnight. I answered a couple of instant messages and went to bed. I hit the snooze button for a good 90 minutes this morning before I finally got up and got ready and came to work. I finished a contract and started working on another one before I realized I needed to get out of the building for lunch to try to wake up.

I went to the bank and then went to Steak n Shake for a Patty Melt, french fries and a Dark Chocolate Shake. The shake was probably not a good idea and I can already tell that I am going to regret it. I completely forgot about that thick dairy liquids and lung infections don't combine very well.

Well, I have tonight and tomorrow night to unpack my new place enough to find stuff to go home for Christmas. I am supposed to pick up the Honey Baked Ham and Honey Baked Turkey on my way to my parent's house on Saturday.

I have yet to buy even one gift for Christmas yet. Luckily my family and I have all decided not to do the gift thing this year. My parents are wanting to replace all the carpet in their house and I just moved into a new condo and am looking at buying a sleeper sofa sectional.

I'll be headed back to my sea of corrugated on Monday and will do what little Christmas shopping I am going to do that week. With being sick, moving and work I just have had a really hard time getting into the Christmas spirit. Can you tell?

By Monday, I also have to decide if I am well enough to go thru my knee surgery on the 29th or if I need to postpone it.

Anyway, there is my week in a nutshell. I hope that all of you have a very Merry Christmas and remember that it's not the presents under the tree but instead the baby in the manger that matters.

Happy Birthday Peep

Peep.jpg

Oh my gosh. I just realized that I never posted a happy birthday for my wonderful grandpa, Peep. His birthday was Saturday, December 17th and that was my moving weekend and my computer was all packed. I know, I know, that is no excuse... but I'm glad I remembered it.

I did call him that morning to wish him a wonderful 84th birthday. I hope I look that good when I'm that old.

My Secret Santa Rocks

secret santa.bmp

Well we have been having a two week Secret Santa project here at work. Today the office had lunch catered and we all ate together in the conference room. Then we went around the room to guess who our secret santa was and for the big revealing.

Let me just say my secret santa rocked.

Last week I got a little snowman and dog that plays Jingle Bells. Yesterday I got a darling stuffed snowman and two candles.

And today... I got two awesome cookbooks, The Essential Asian Cookbook and The Essential Seafood Cookbook that I can not wait to try out as soon as I finish moving and unpacking my kitchen.

The Real Letter To Santa

Santa Clause
North Pole, Earth

Dear Santa,

I have been a good Girl.

It really wasn't my fault what happened at NessaLee's Office party. It was Kami who spiked the punch with too much Jägermeister. I can't help it if I drank 17 glasses. It was so good---smelled and tasted just like Pine.

I thought it was funny when I put CricketYank's Knee Pad on my head and danced the Electric Slide on the Pompasan Chair while singing `Boondocks'. I didn't mean to break NessaLee's VOIP Converter and don't know why NessaLee would accuse me of Grand Theft Auto.

I don't remember calling Michael's wife a cold Sheep---even though she looked like one with Green eye shadow and Purple lipstick!

And when I threw up on Becky's husband's Nose, it was only because I ate too much of those Buffalo Wings.

After all that fun, I admit I was a little tired. So I fell asleep on my way home and drove my Scooter through my neighbor's Laundry Room. I don't think that was any reason for my neighbor to call me a filthy dog and have me arrested for Kidnapping!

So, Santa...here I sit in my jail cell on Christmas Eve, all large and obsessive compulsive. And I'm really not to blame for any of this pretty stuff. Please bring me what I want the most---bail money!

Sincerely and running yours,
FutureFoodTVStar (Really a nice Girl!)

P.S. It's only 498 bucks!

Damn Headlines

cold.gif

There I was sitting at work, doing work (I actually had something to do) and then an email showed up. It was the daily news email from the Dallas Morning News.

There it was, on the front page.

Weekend Could Bring Snow.

Some of you might have noticed me complaining that I have never seen enough snow to make a snow angel or a snow man. That I've never gotten to play in snow.

But, as we learned last week... it isn't going to actually snow here in Dallas, its just gonna drop freezing rain and sleet all over the place and make it nearly impossible to drive on. These idiot big-haired, shiney-shoed Dallas-ites cant drive when its 80degrees and sunshining.. they sure as heck cant drive on Black Ice.

Anyway... If you have been paying any attention at all to my recent posts, or even the little countdown in the side bar... you would notice one little bitty detail Mother Nature forgot about...

I'm Freaking MOVING This Weekend!

I quickly called my new landlord and asked if I could get the key early and start moving in before the bad weather hits. She told me that the key was in the storage shed for the people who had been doing some foundation work and that she would contact me tomorrow to get the rent and stuff.

I called my next door neighbor and we loaded up my car and his. We got one load unloaded and then went to dinner. While eating Wings, Mother Nature turned into a real wench and let it start raining.

Its supposed to rain the rest of the night. So, I guess there is nothing left to do but blog... and I'm not reading any more headlines tonight.

Cell Phone Attempted Suicide

suicide.bmp

This is the corner of my desk at work. My scanner sits on top of a nice Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1999 wooden box. To the right of the scanner, is my radio and my keyboard. Then, if you notice there is a coffee cup sitting there all innocently.

Yesterday, about 12:55, my cell phone was sitting on top of the scanner. I was sitting there typing away on the keyboard. And all of a sudden I hear *plunk*.

I looked over to see that my cell phone had attempted suicide, jumping foot first into the coffee cup. This is not the first time this has happened. It has jumped out of my hands, fallen out of my purse, rolled underneath me when I was sleeping (hoping to be suffocated/squashed to death).

About two months ago, one of it's attempts caused a good crack on the number keypad and the lid part that flips would fall off the hinges. As long as I was careful with it and held the hinges together it was fine.

Yesterday's attempt actually sent it to the Emergency Room. The caffeine put it on some sort of high and it spent the rest of the day beeping at me and telling me that it was charging. Apparently caffeine has the same effect on electronics as it does humans. I am hoping that the Emergency Room can fix it, as my both of my parent's cell phones have also attempted suicide and they are both blind (front display caller id screen broke).. and if mine can be restored at the ER then I will give her to her grandparents. Maybe they can help her.

In the meantime...

newphone.jpg

Meet my new cell phone. This new little guy even has a camera on it, so I can play FUG Thursdays and post more pictures when I'm not lugging around my big camera. In fact, the new little guy took the picture of the scene of his sister's attempted suicide.

Now, I'm just wondering. I wonder if I should research cell phone Lexapro so that I don't go thru the heart ache of putting all my numbers back into my cell phone again.

Random Meme

Write 5 random facts about yourself, and then list the names of 5 people whom you in turn tag.

1. I'm allergic to lettuce, cherries, codiene and cortizone.

2. In 1984, my grandparents and parents dragged me to more funerals than the number of links on my blogroll.

3. I'm 31 years old and I have never seen enough snow to make a snowman or a snowangel.

4. I have an uncanny ability to remember birthdays, anniversaries and other days of senitmental importance ( a talent which has been known to annoy people )... but I cant remember to take my coupon box to the grocery store.

5. When I was 10 months old, my parents fed me so much squash (on a daily basis for a week or so), that I turned yellow. I mean my SKIN turned to a bright yellowish gold color. The doctors said I had squash-anemia.

Well, I'm supposed to tag five people, but I don't really feel like it... so just let me know if you played.

Rest In Peace

pryor.jpgeugene.jpgjean.jpg

I know that Hollywood-ites usually die in threes, but all in the same day?

Rumor has it that Matt Damon and Luciana Bozan; Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (that's what the radio station here in Dallas was reporting yesterday) all got married this weekend. Sounds like nine deaths to me

Imagine

imagine.gif

Imagine there's no heaven,
it's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
above us only sky,
Imagine all the people,
living for today.

Imagine there's no countries,
it isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
and no religion too,
Imagine all the people,
living life in peace.

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope someday you'll join us,
and the world will be as one.

Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
a brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people,
sharing all the world.

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope someday you'll join us,
and the world will live as one.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon. His death changed our lives, but not as much as his life.

Hiccups

hiccups.jpg

Ok. This is getting ridiculous. It is 11:42pm Central Standard Time. I have officially had the hiccups, non-stop, since 5 freaking 4 forty damn five pm Central Standard Time.

I have drank water, I have pressed on the pressure point on my wrist, I have swallowed 2 teaspoons of sugar, I have had people try to scare me, I have stood outside in the cold.

I don't know what else to do but its driving me nuts.

HE -hiccup- LP!

Pewwwiee

Note to the coffee drinkers in my office.

If, after filling up your coffee mug, there is not enough coffee in the pot to cover up 3 tablespoons of sugar in a normal sized coffee mug... Do Not Put It Back On The Burner And Walk Off.

Either, dump the remaining out and start a new pot, or, return the pot to a burner and then hit the OFF button.

It totally smells like someone took a bag of microwave popcorn, opened it up, put two rotten hot dogs in with the kernels, and then stuck the bag in the microwave for about 10 full minutes on High.

Blech.

My Letter To Santa

santaletter.jpg

I hope this letter finds you well and not overworked at the beginning of this Christmas season. I apologize for my absence and because it has been so long since I have written. This has been quite a year for me and as 2005 draws to a close, I find myself trying to refocus my life on those things that truely matter.

My first wish for this Christmas is for health. This has been a crazy year in that department (especially since August) and I'm quite sure you are aware of all that I have been thru. I am hoping for a doctor that will work with not only trying to make me feel better but also actively work to lower the amount of medications that I am on.

I will be moving next week and I am hoping for a few items to decorate my new home with. I would really like a jewelry box (something like this one) with a necklace compartment. I have a lot of (costume) necklaces and stuff that I have bought to match certain outfits, but I can either not find them when it comes time to wear them, or they are so tangled up with the others that I run out of time trying to get it loose.

I would also like to have a new DVD player. Mine decided to start skipping and freezing on me and I haven't been able to watch a movie since probably May. When I first moved up here to go to school and work, that was my favorite thing to do on Friday nights. Order a pizza and curl up on the couch with a good movie. Of course, I usually fell asleep before the movie was over and had to finish it the next morning, but it still served as a wonderful relaxing way to end the week.

Lastly, I would like a Rolling Kitchen Island with a Butcher's Block. My new condo has a dining room and a small open corner in the kitchen. I really don't need two dining areas as I normally eat in front of either the TV or the computer. But I would love to have a nice cutting board / butchers block and a nice cart with shelves to hold all my cookbooks.

Also, my babies, Zack and Zane have asked me to include their Christmas List with mine. They would both like to have new beds for Christmas. Their grandparents started using their older brother, Char Cole's big bed as the "time out" place, so as I'm sure you can understand, it just isn't that much fun to sleep there any more.

Thank you so much Santa for always taking care of us every Christmas. You are definitely an inspiration to us all.

Love

Boredom

boredom.jpg

Friday I came home from work and decided I was going to pack. It was at this time that I was hit straight on the nose with a depressing and boring fact. I can't pack any more. My current abode is so small that the boxes that ARE packed, are stacked up in the way of getting to the rest of the stuff that needs packing. Also, those stacks are nearly to the ceiling and even if I could get to stuff to pack, I wouldn't have any place to put the box after I was done.

This reminds me a lot of the day I moved into da ghetto... You couldn't see over the pile of stuff and you basically needed a pole-vaulting stick to get around the piles.

So what did I do? I went to sleep. And Saturday, I slept. Except for getting up to go sign the lease on my new place and grab something to eat... sleeping was about all I got done.

Yesterday, I was bored so I went and started re-uploading pictures and reformatting the archive posts from February and March. None of my pictures and none of my formatting survived when we converted my blogspot account over to my new domain.

Last night, after my neighbor got home... I went next door to watch a movie since my DVD player has been off in the looneybin for months. I watched Monster-in-Law with JLo and JFo. It was cute, but the character Ruby stole the show.

The Boredom Continues:

At work, I deal with information that is downloaded out of an AS400. The information is supposed to be in there at least 90days ahead of time. January's information was late but I quickly got what I needed and sent out the results to the people waiting on it.

I have been patiently waiting for about two weeks on February information. We were assured that both February and March information would be available to us today. Not to mention the fact that I have already missed my first deadline to turn in February information to a client.

I get to work and I download the information that the AS400 gave me for February. I import it into my automated excel spreadsheets and start formatting and highlighting changes from last month. Then my boss walks in and says... "Well, all the February information in the system is wrong and it didn't upload correctly. Don't do anything with the information until you get an email from me saying it is fixed."

So. Again. I'm back to patiently waiting. Although, I have to say, my patience is quickly running out. I have just about decided that they need to pay me more to be this bored.

I found the picture of the dog on Google and it reminded me of Char Cole. When my parents were still living in Houston, my dad would call before he left work to say he was on his way home. My mother would tell Char Cole that "Daddy's coming home."

That sweet baby would go to the dining room and sit in the window waiting for Daddy to drive up in front of the house. When he laid down, his chin was the exact height as the window sill. It was the cutest thing to see him sitting there resting his chin on the window sill waiting for his daddy.

What Kinda Of Pie And Ice Cream Are You?

You Are Mud Pie
You're the perfect combo of flavor and depth
Those who like you give into their impulses
You Are Phish Food Ice Cream
You've been described as gooey and fudgey. Sorry.

Funny. I had Phish Food first the first time last night.

These Will Be Discontinued

gl_red_pepper_bean.jpg

As it goes with most things I find in the grocery store that I like and can take for quick and cheap lunches at work...

I was never much of a soup eater, especially canned / store bought soup. I am a professed soup snob. I want hot soup from a restaurant, like the Broccoli Cheese at The Blackeyed Pea, the Chicken Tortilla or Santa Fe Roasted Corn at McAlister's Deli or the Portabello and Roasted Garlic Bisque at Panera Bread.

With knee surgery, moving (and the expenses involved with that), I am broke. I had wishfully bought a box of this soup about a month ago but I hadn't tried it yet.

It's wonderful and I'm going to go buy me some more and try the other flavors. Just wish I had a dollop of Daisy to garnish it with.

We're a movin' on up,
(We're a movin on up.)
To the east side.
(Mo-vin on up.)
To a de-luxe apartment,
In the sky-.
Mo-vin' on up
(Mo-vin on up.)
To the east side,
(Mo-vin on up.)
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen,
A beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lot of trying
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin our turn at bat.
As long as we live
It's you and me baby.
There ain't nothing wrong with that.

We're a moving on up
(Mo-vin on up.)
To the east side,
(Mo-vin on up.)
To a de-luxe apartment
In the sky-.
Mo-vin on up
(Mo-vin on up.)
To the east side.
(Mo-vin on up.)
We finally got a piece of the pie-.

Juror No. 286

This has got to be the heigth of stupidity. McLennan County actually sent a jury summons to none other than...

bush-monkey_big.jpg

I mean really. The monkey hasn't made a decision by himself in 59 years, and they actually want him to sit on a jury? Puhleease.

I Now Have A Place To Move To

condo.jpg

After nearly a month of apartment hunting and searching, I got the word today that I got the condo I applied for on Monday.

It's a beautiful private owner, 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath, fireplace and all new appliances condo with a small enclosed yard. The yard has a sprinkler system and flower beds and a brand new deck. I cant wait to get out there and plant an herb garden and maybe some tomatoes in the spring.

It's not really closer (timewise) to work but it is an entirely different set of traffic, which doesn't involve getting on a freeway.

I couldn't have gotten this news any later.. I was getting really frustrated and I am supposed to start moving exactly two weeks from today.

I can't wait.

Watch Out For The Pits!!

olivepits.gif

Its a New Month and a New Site.

Welcome to the debut of The Stolen Olive.

Someday in the future, this will be the website for my restaurant when I finish Culinary School. But until then, I will use my new domain to keep you Olive over my day to day life.

Welcome to my new blog, and until I get all the archives and pictures uploaded... watch out for the pits.
