SPF - Stop The Presses

SPFridays.jpg

Yes, Kristine, I'm having a hard time catching a break. As some of you might have noticed, I haven't played SPF since um, yeah.. JUNE.

SPF this week is going to be super easy and... well, Random.

1. The Kitchen Sink

kitchensink.jpg

I love my new apartment... I just wish the kitchen was a little bigger. Here's my kitchen sink and countertops.

2. Something you need to fix.

deadbatteries.jpg

Neither of the cordless headsets for my phone/answering machine and extra base have worked since I moved in August. I guess the batteries died sitting in storage. I can't ever remember to buy new batteries for it when I'm at Target or SatanCo.

3. Something you're going to throw away right after you take the picture of it.

RaspberryCreamDP and Chocolate.jpg

My new favorite Soft Drink... Diet Dr Pepper Berries and Cream. Yes, it's diet. That way I can eat that wonderful little morsel in the gold wrapper. Hershey's Special Dark with Almonds Nuggets.

How about that for easy?

Who's playing this week!?

**Edited to ADD: Work is already crazy this morning. I will come by and visit you all tonight after I drive down to my parent's house.

SPF - Fulltime Lifestyle

SPFridays.jpg

SPF this week is brought to you by Kristine with the help of Dictionary.com
1. ap.er.ture n.

An opening, such as a hole, gap, or slit.
A usually adjustable opening in an optical instrument, such as a camera or telescope, that limits the amount of light passing through a lens or onto a mirror.
The diameter of such an opening, often expressed as an f-number.
The diameter of the objective of a telescope.
Because I know you're all just weirdos that read my site, your assignment isn't going to be a hole, a gap or a slit because UPPERCASE God only knows what you'll be showing me!

SPF ASSIGNMENT:

1. A wide open space.

2. Brightness

3. In the dark

Have fun SPFers because this is another, 'it's how you see it' type of assignment. Surprise me!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't been playing much lately since I have been busy either packing, moving, or enjoying that which is my new 66-mile one-way commute to work.

1. A wide open space.

wideopenspaces.jpg

This is the field across from my new residence. I've been told there is a swimming lake back there, I'll have to go check that out one weekend soon.

2. Brightness

brightness.jpg

This is the sun coming in thru the trees next to my new home. This same sun is the one that wakes me up every morning.

3. In the dark

darkness.jpg

I am completely in the dark how long I can survive without a working oven. This oven in the RV runs off of propane and burns everything I have tried to cook in it.

Our new little building on our lot was delivered yesterday. The washer and dryer should be installed this weekend. Hopefully we will have an full size stove/oven installed by next month. So until that time, this stove will be used as storage. Storage is something that I have come to realize is a precious commodity when you are "Fulltiming" it in an RV.

SPF - Wide Open Spaces

SPFridays.jpg

It is Friday again, and this time Kristine gave as an assignment that was:
Wide Open Spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes

Oops, sorry. Had a Dixie Chick Moment.

Anyway, this week she wanted to see:

Body of Water - think big or small... it's up to you.

bodyofwater.jpg

I would have to say this is the most annoying and redundant body of water known to man.

Something with Flavor - yes, another wide open one

flavor.jpg

An Array Of Flavor!

Plant your Ass - where you park it ...

park.jpg

This is not actually where I park my a$$, but rather this is where my purse ends up when I come home since it is sitting right by the front door.

Didja play?

SPF - Grains

SPFridays.jpg

This week Kristine wants us to remember what we learned a few weeks ago and use them this week.

1. Something Big
2. Something Small
3. Half of Something

Remember, PERSPECTIVE. It may be small to you, but get on the floor and take the picture and see how big it looks. GET CREATIVE!! Think outside the house box. Half of something can be taken ANY way. Actually, all of these can be taken any way you want.

Well, I actually didn't play the week she talked about finding a new prespective, but I actually decided to get creative this week.

Something Big

triscuit.jpg

Look at the all those BIG whole grains in this little bitty Cracker.
triscuitbox.jpg

Something Small

couch material.jpg

The grains of this Chenille material are pretty small on this huge couch.
newcouch.jpg

Half of Something

In keeping with the whole Grain theme I've got going on here.

half cutting board.jpg

This is what happens when you put a wooden cutting board in the dishwasher. You get half of it in one hand and half of it in the other.

Did you play? Let me know and I will come by and see. Make sure you tell Kristine too!

SPF - Alphabet

SPFridays.jpg

Kristine received a death threat over email this week. It said "PLEASE PUT UP THE ASSIGNMENT FOR STUFF PORTRAIT FRIDAY OR I WILL BE FORCED TO COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND FEED YOU FISH!" So our assignment was to post something that would represent each of our initials.

I have absolutely no creativity this week, so here we go:

BearA.jpg

applesauce.jpg
I love applesauce but why is it so freaking hard to find Chunky AppleSauce that isn't that non-sweetened organic crap?

BearC.jpg

cookies.jpg
YUM, cookies. Probably my favorite way to curb my daily sweet tooth.

BearZ.jpg

zinfandel.jpg
It was either this or a Zebra, but since I deal with Wine all day at work I thought this was more appropriate.

Yep, this week is just about over and I'm glad.. cause it SUCKED!

Did you play?

SPF - Vacation Friday

SPFridays.jpg

Well it is Friday again. Time for the best blog scavenger hunt game around, Stuff Portrait Friday. This week Kristine wanted to see our washer and dryer, our robe, and a flower.

The Washer and Dryer
machines.jpg
These are not my machines. They were already in this condo when I moved in. Mine are in storage waiting for me to get a place of my own. And I ask you, is it possible for this laundry room to be any smaller? And the door to the laundry room will not stay open so its constantly closing on you and closing the dryer door while I am trying to load the darn thing.

My Robe (and Matching Houseshoes)
robeandshoes.jpg
This is my matching set robe and houseshoes from Bath and Body Works. I am a recovering BBW addict, after working part time for the company in three different locations. When I sold my house in 2002, I could have easily opened my own BBW out of my garage. I try not to go there anymore and if I do I am only allowed to buy the single item (usually shower gel) that I need to finish off all the lotions and splashes that I already have. I'm hoping to finish off the Blissful Blackberry sometime this month.

100_0550.JPG
I took this picture in August 2003 when I was in Fort Worth visiting friends. I had some time to kill before they got home from work so I walked around the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens with my digital camera (that was still pretty new). It was so hot and late in the season that most of the stuff was dying. I need to go back over there before I move and before it gets too hot.

So there you have it folks, my contribution to this week's scavenger hunt. Did you play?

On Another Note:
I took today and Monday off as vacation days from work. I'm leaving town in a couple of hours. Tomorrow is my wonderful grandmother's, Nana, 87th birthday and we will be having a little family get-together. Sunday, I will drive to Houston and I have two meetings at placement agencies on Monday. After my meetings I will drive back to Waco and eat dinner with my parent's for their 35th wedding anniversary before heading back to BigHairVille.

Please send good vibes to the placement agencies so that they can find me a job so I can move HOME.

C is for Crazy

SPFridays.jpg

Can you tell me how to get
How to get to Sesame Street?

Ok. That was a little Random. And, I'll admit it. That was a little Odd. Hmm... Random and Odd. I guess that means it is Stuff Portrait Friday again.

c4cookie.gif

This week's assignment is brought to you by the letter C.

cookie.jpg Your Couch

newcouch.jpg

This is my new couch. It's a sleeper sofa sectional. It was delivered the first weekend in January. I love it and now I have a bed to offer friends and family if they need to spend the night in Dallas.

cookie.jpg Your Coat

jacket.jpg

My jacket. It is a few years old, so the faux fur collar and wrists are probably no longer fashionable. Hell, they probably never were, but I bought this jacket at Palais Royal on sale.

cookie.jpg Your Candles

hallway.jpg

This is a picture of the hallway in my house (that I miss terribly and wish that I had never sold) in Smalltown, Tx where I lived between 1999 and 2002. Ness(a)Lee attempted and succeeded to give me a full-fledged addiction to PartyLite Candles.

The glass cabinet was full of candle holders and knick-knacks. Also, if you look up on the wall on the right you will see the two Sconces I bought after hosting my first Candle Party. These sconces held tealite candles and looked really cool when they were lit. I love those things.

I left most of my candle holders at my parents house and I was out of candles anyway. When I get to move home I am totally gonna have to host a show, or I may just attempt to start back at being a independent consultant.

Ok. That's it for me. Did you play? Let Kristine and I know if you did. All these cookies, now I need some milk.

SPF - Like Yesterday's Newspaper

SPFridays.jpg

Come friends, one and all, to relish in the trash that fills our lives. It is again time for SPF and since it is Friday night at 7:27pm, we can throw this week out like yesterday's newspaper. And for some reason I have yet to figure out, the past two weeks they have been throwing a Monday & Tuesday newspaper along with the Friday - Sunday ones. Makes no sense.

yesterdaysnewspaper.jpg

Yep, there are my newspapers from Monday, Tuesday and Today. I don't actually read them. I get the weekend subscription just for the Saturday and Sunday Classified Ads and the Sunday Coupons.

This week, Kristine wanted to see our junk. I guess she is actually finally out of ideas and is asking us to submit suggestions for upcoming SPF themes. So if you have an idea, go let her know.

trashcan.jpg

Here is my trashcan, or I guess you could call it the trashcan cabinet. Ok, Ok, Ok. I know part of my New Years Resolution was to get rid of the teddybear stuff, but since I decided that I wanted to move HOME to Houston, I'm trying to save money for that. I will dive head first into the teddybear extermination as soon as I move.

junkdrawer.jpg

Here is my junk drawer in the kitchen. You will see all the guards for my chef's knives, a few electrical cords, some nails and screws, and oh my goodness... there is my screwdriver.

junkpile.jpg

Here is the junk pile of crap that has never been unpacked since I moved in December. This pile is nicely sitting out of the way in front of my bookcase. All those binders you see behind the pile are my binders from Culinary School.

The box on the left is full of paperwork stuff. I need to sit down and put it all in my file cabinets, but that is gonna be a huge project. The box on the left is a bunch of cords and pens and tape and crap that I just need to find a place for.

junkindatrunk.jpg

I technically don't have a "trunk" in my VUE, but here is the back of it. There is a half-empty gallon of windshield wiper fluid and a plastic sack for cleaning out the car. The big blue thing is the ice pack my doc gave me after my knee surgery. I keep it in my car and can freeze it pretty quick whereever I am for when I get a really bad migraine. The large white rolling laundry basket is from when I took my dry cleaning in last week. I guess I will remember to bring the basket back in the house tomorrow when I go pick up my dry cleaning.

Ok, so there it is folks. SPF - More Junk Than You Wanted To See.

SPF - Total Randomness

SPFridays.jpg

Kristine, Kristine, Kristine. What are we gonna do with you? You keep getting more Random And Odd as time goes by. If you don't stop, you're gonna end up like me! happy face.jpg

This week Kristine wanted to see: 1) your favorite jeans; 2)birthmark, mole or freckles; and 3)your photo albums & where you store them

My Favorite Jeans

bellbottoms.jpg

Even though I can not wear these jeans and more than likely will never be able to lose enough weight to wear them again, they will always be my favorite.

Every year during Homecoming Week in high school, we would have special dress days that were a large part of the whole "spirit" of Homecoming. My junior year one of those special dress days was Hippie Day.

My mom and I went down to the little resale shops on Montrose looking for something for me to wear for Hippie Day. We found these size 8 stonewashed hiphugger bellbottoms and they fit perfectly. I had a pink and purple tie-dyed shirt, beads, these bellbottoms and I wore my mom's moccasins. I always knew I was born a decade or two too late.

Birthmark/Mole/Freckles

I tried to take a picture of the freckles on my shoulders but I guess they seem a lot darker to me than they actually are because they wouldn't show up. I don't have a birthmark so, I am left showing a Scar instead.

kneescar.jpg

This is the scar on my knee from my Bursectomy I had back in December.

Your Photo Albums & Where You Store Them

photoalbum.jpg

Um, yeah. I'm not creative at all. I wouldn't know how to start a scrapbook if Kami came over and did it for me. My grandmother is really the picture person in the family, and all of her pictures are in boxes and boxes and boxes all over the house. Some day we will get them all scanned into a computer.

Didya play? Make sure you let me know so I can come by and say hi.

**Edited to ADD*

oopsiforgot.jpg

Here are the cookies that I forgot were in the oven, while I was teaching my mother, over instant messenger, how to take that picture of my bellbottoms and send it to me off of her CAMERA phone. Oops.

SPF - Bedside Manner

SPFridays.jpg

Another week has gone by and it is again time again to take pictures of Random and Odd stuff in our abodes and post them for all the world to see. This week, Kristine, the most and random and off of us all wanted to see:

Our Nightstands, Our Favorite Book, and Our Favorite Lamp.

1. My Nightstand
nightstand.jpg

This nightstand goes with the bedroom suit that I inherited from my dad's mom when she left us in 2001. On top is my alarm clock and the extra handheld unit to my phone.

On the shelf is my houseshoes and my two microwavable heat packs. The plaid one is for my feet and the white one wraps around your neck. Inside of the drawer is where I keep my crafty stuff. I am not a crafty person, but I do have some markers and glitter markers and the StampIt! set I bought from a home party at Ness(a)Lee's house one time a few years ago.

2. My Favorite Book
makingofachef.jpg

I bought this book for myself for Christmas 2004. I read it right before I moved to Dallas to start Culinary School. It was a really good book and it did prepare me for some of the things I would encounter when I got here.

3. My Favorite Lamp
ChurchNightlight2.jpg

This lamp/nightlite was given to me by my dad's mom back years ago. I am frankly surprised it still works as many times as I have moved. It did get a little chip on the right side "lawn" around the church.

So, there we have it, SPF - Bedside Manner style, go let Kristine know if you played.

Tangent:
I have a doctor's appointment Monday morning (a new neurologist because I fired TheDrugDealer)and I hope he has as nice of a bedside manner as those of you visiting me today... (if that isn't fishing for comments I don't know what is).

SPF - In All Our Glory

starryspf.jpg

I think I am on a roll! Three weeks in a row now I have actually played SPF. I guess Kristine is being really easy with the assigments or something. If you are here and don't play SPF, why the heck aren't you? I can vouch for the fact that its not just for the "cool bloggers" because hell if it was, I couldn't play.

This week's assignment.

What is under my bed? Hmm. Two tupperware underbed containers containing pants that I doubt my fat butt will ever get into again, a couple of purses, and my suitcase set. Although, the suitcase set came out from underneath the bed as soon as I took this picture because I was PACKING FOR BLOG BLOWOUT.

underbed.jpg

This is my stereo. I'm not sure we still call them that, but that is what they were called in 1996 when I bought it. God, I swear I kept the Fingerhut catalog company in business. This stereo has a dual cassette deck and a 25-disc CD changer. Man, I thought I was hot stuff to have that back in 1996.

stereo.jpg

Since I got my new computer last week, I can actually get Photoshop to load. It is so much fun now that I can erase all the crumbs and stuff off the kitchen floor because I haven't mopped this week.

This picture is my three kitchen cabinets and the under-the-oven drawer, all of them full of pots and pans. Most of the pots and pans still look fairly clean. They are my EMERILWARE STAINLESS STEEL COPPER COOKWARE that I got for Christmas in 2003 but didn't take out of the box until I moved to Dallas in January 2005 since there wasn't really room for them in my parents' kitchen.

pots and pans.jpg

Ok, there is all the glory I can muster up tonight, I gotta go finish laundry and packing for AUSTIN! Did ya play? Let Kristine and I know so we can come visit you.

And for the couple of friends I have that read this everyday and never comment, come on, get a blog and join in the fun.

SPF - All About Love

SPFridays.jpg

Kami, over at The Dallas Ks, was babysitting SPF for Kristine this week and if her laptop wasn't being such a HAB then I know she would still have some of that bottle of Crown.

Anyway, this weeks assignment is all about that nasty "Kill Cupid Week" Love crap. We are supposed to show the blogworld:

~ What you love most about your home
~ What you love least about your home
~ What you love most about yourself

Well, as you might have heard, I moved in December and I've been having computer problems ever since so I haven't had the opportunity to post any pictures of my new abode.

~ What you love most about your home

Backyard.jpg

I have a backyard, err, actually its my front yard, regardless its a yard. I can't wait until spring so I can plant a herb garden, grill steaks on the bbq pit and sit outside on the deck and blister in the sun.

~ What you love least about your home

MirrorWall1.jpgMirrorWall2.jpg

I have appparently moved into a TimeWarp back to the 1970s when it was cool to have mirrors covering entire walls.

The first picture is the mirror wall in the dining room. The kitchen table currently home to all of the stuff that has yet to find a home here in 1970. I'm hoping to get all the pictures and stuff hung this weekend.

The second picture is the mirror wall in the bedroom/office. It doesn't bother me too much when I'm working on the computer but when I'm trying to sleep that wall is just creepy.

~ What you love most about yourself

hair.jpg

I was bald until I was nearly two years old. Every hair I did get, got ripped out by the scotch tape my mother used to stick the bows on my head.

When my hair finally decided to grow, it came in thick and with a mind of its own. Luckily, we had the same ideas of what it was supposed to do... curl under at the bottom. All I had to do was dry it and it would just curl under perfectly. My hair holds curl like crazy and I've had to have my perms actually straightened out 2 or 3 years later.

As a kid my hair was brownish-red with natural blonde and black highlights. By the time I was 16 I started highlighting it to cover up the first signs that I had inherited my dad's premature white hair. By the time I was 25 I was buying boxes of home color every 4-6 weeks. Needless to say I have been thru some major color disasters.

After changing boxes and types of hair color and after finally finding someone I like to cut it on a regular basis, my hair is finally to the point where I love it again.

Did you play? Drop me some love (comments) and let Kami know you played.

SPF: It's A Game I Play

I like to keep you all guessing ... if and when I am actually going to play SPF. Well this week, I'm playing.

Mostly, I am playing this week because this is the first assignment, that Kristine has given us, in a while were I could complete it with google image searches. I've had so many problems with my computer in the past two weeks, I am not daring enough to try to sync my digital camera and download my pictures.

Anyway, without further ado...

SPFridays.jpg

Games I Play

I have a paid membership to ClubPogo and I play most of the games on that site, especially the two games that are the "Weekly Challenges" for badges. But, when all is said and done, I'm addicted to

mahjong.jpg
Mahjong Gardens.

Family Games

When I was growing up, my parents and I would occasionally play card games. One of our favorites was:

pit.jpg
PIT.

Also, my Great Aunt Ruth taught the grandkids in my family to play Dominoes.

dominoes.jpg

We usually played either 42 or Mexican Train. After she died, we have tried to continue to play and we still have fun, but it is bittersweet.

At my grandparents we used to play Wahoo all the time. I think next time I go visit them I am going to make them get the board out so we can play. Our board doesn't look exactly like this, because ours was acutally hand made by a friend of the family.

wahoo.jpg

My Games

I need a set of dominoes but the games I own and have with me in Dallas and play on a semi-regular basis are:

uno.jpgskipbo.jpgphase10.jpg

Uno has been around forever and I think everyone plays this one. SkipBo was another one of my parent's and my favorite games to play. Phase10 I found out about thru an ex and some mutal friends. This game gets really fun when you have 5 or more people playing.

Did you play? Let me and Kristine know.

We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen,
A beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lot of trying
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin our turn at bat.
As long as we live
It's you and me baby.
There ain't nothing wrong with that.

It Takes Drugs To Be In School

SPFridays.jpg

Believe it or not, I'm actually playing SPF this week, and I'm actually playing early. Kristine thought up a good assignment and I was intriqued when she said this was gonna be hard.

This week's assignment is to present something that exhibits our past, our present and our future. So, here we go.

The Past:

100_1604.jpg

These are two of my "faculty" shirts from the two different high schools I taught at. Teaching high school was definitely an experience. I'm glad I did it, but I'm glad its over. There are not enough drugs in the world to make me go back to teaching. And besides, had I not taught at Smalltown, Tx HS... I would have never gotten to meet the wonderful BlogFamily that is Andevine, Ness(a)Lee, and Ball-n-Chain... that, my friends was worth it all.

The Present:

100_1605.jpg

Wait a minute? Did I just say there wasn't enough drugs? This is a picture of the middle drawer in this three door plastic cart I bought at Target. And believe it or not, the only thing in this drawer are PRESCRIPTIONS. I take at least one pill out of every bottle / package in that drawer. Some of them I even take 4 or 5 pills a day from each bottle. I have a call into a Pain Management Doctor to see if we can find another way of dealing with my health issues without so many damn medications.

And Finally...

The Future:

I know I have fallen down on my job of getting my other website up and running and I had these wild dreams of posting recipes along with pictures from school and the first thing I was going to post was the my menu project that I turned in during my second quarter. I know I never got to post it so, this is going to be the cover for my menu when I finally open up my restaurant, The Stolen Olive.

menucover.jpg
But, before I open my restaurant... I have to take my drugs and get back in school.

SPF - Favorite Pictures

SPFridays.jpg

Late as usual, but at least I'm playing this week, Kristine's Stuff Portrait Friday always sends me looking for pictures and wishing I had all my pictures from my parent's and grandparent's houses scanned into my computer.

The best picture I ever took.

100_0528.jpg

I took this picture at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens back in August of 2003. I had come up to Dallas/Fort Worth to visit friends. I had eaten brunch with one friend, but the other people I was going to be visiting weren't going to be home for a while.

My favorite picture of myself.
choirpic.jpg

This picture was taken at Olan Mills after my high school choir sang at the graduation ceremony for the Class of '90. I had just had my hair permed, colored and highlighted that morning and I have always loved this picture. And I don't have many pictures of me that I like at all.

My favorite picture taken by someone else.
silnit_f0_th.jpg

I know this doesn't technically fit the definiton of picture... but I love the art of Thomas Kinkade.

SPF - Pictures, Calls & Mistakes

SPFridays.jpg
Kristine's Game

Well, over there at Random and Odd, where they pass out our weekly assignments for Stuff Portrait Fridays, I think I'm fixing to fail because I always turn in my posts at least a day or two late... and sometimes even a week or two late.

This week (as in, yesterday)... we were supposed to post pictures of our camera, our cell phone and something that we purchased that ended up not being the *prize* we thought it was going to be when we were shelling out the money for it.

First, my Camera. It's a Kodak EasyShare LS443 and Dock. I got it for Christmas 2002. It takes pretty good pictures, I'm just not that good of a photographer. Luckily, I taught Photoshop for one year and learned some neat tricks to cover up my inadequacies.

camera1.jpg

Next, my cellphone. Its an LG VX 3200 and I didn't know it until I just googled it but this model has since been discontinued by Verizon Wireless. Man, that's comforting. Anyway. I like my phone, I just wish it took pictures so that I could offer you some more colorful commentary on some of the most complacent and annoying drivers in the world... those known as Dallas Drivers.

cellphone.jpg

And lastly, that purchase that bombed. This steamer I ordered thru Fingerhut back before they declared bankruptcy and quit mailing out catalogs. My aunt had a steamer and used it all the time. I hate to iron and I thought it would be a great thing to have. Once I got it home I realized that I had made a mistake. It takes forever to get hot and it really doesn't get the wrinkles out of clothes.

SPF - Random, Odd & Odder

SPFridays.jpg
Hosted by Kristine

Ok... It was time for Stuff Portrait Friday again... about a week ago... and it was Random Week over there at Random and Odd, how appropriate.

For this installment, our assignment was to show our kitchen, a picture of something random & a sample of our handwriting.

SPF - Shaun Style

SPF.jpg

Well, I haven't played SPF in a long time, and I figured this was as good a time as any to jump back in... especially since we are playing a twisted version of SPF this week. We are playing Shaun Style.

STUFF PORTRAIT FRIDAY - SHAUN STYLE

1. Your favorite 'team' paraphenalia. (shirts, hats, washing machines...whatever you have that shows off your favorite team)

2. This is a 'google hunt' picture. Go find a picture of your favorite player from your team and post it.

3. Dig through some old pictures and show me one of you at a tailgating party, block party, or Superbowl party. I know you've got to have something like that.

SPD - Where You Blog

Ok, so I know I'm late getting these up there, but my mind, etc., isn't quite up to normal running speed yet.

This is my desk at home. This is where all the late night and weekend blogging happens. Note the broken chair. No wonder after 4 weekends of nothing but homework that my rear end started protesting sitting down, in any form or fashion.

This is my desk at work. I am around the corner from everything and some days the people in my office will start singing my name to even ask if I am there. I'm thinking of taking a pillow and a sleeping bag up there to take naps during my lunch hour. This is where all the daytime dribble and insanity comes from.

In case you couldn't see the back of my desk in the picture above, here is a close up. I have been told by a couple of the managers that a few of those bottles are getting old and "need to be drunk soon," anybody wanna help?

And, again you will notice my ever present stash of Fruit2O. I guess it's obvious which of this stuff I have actually been drinking, and which ones I need to be drinking.

Stuff Portrait Friday

Ok, I am taking a much needed break from school work to post my entries for Stuff Portrait Friday.

The first item on the list was Kid's Room. Well I don't have any kids, but apparently a one of the stray apartment complex cats has decided that my couch on the patio makes a pretty comfortable bed. Here is Mr. Kitty taking a cat nap.

100_1132.jpg

Second on the list was a showcase of something we collect. I collect TeddyBears. I know I'm getting a little old for them but most of my collection also serves functionality (stoneware and silverware, coffee pot, tea kettle, can opener, canisters, shower curtain, towels, soap dish, toothbrush holder, bed spread, pillows, sheets... hmm, am I forgetting anything?)

The first picture is just a collection of stuffed animals. The subsequent pictures will be of everything else teddybear. I will add a few more pictures when my sheets get out of the dryer and I get the bed made and the bathroom and kitchen straightened up a tad.

Late Addition: Country Bear Collection - The Bed

Lastly, the third part of our Stuff Portrait Friday assignment was our Computer Desk. And Kristine's website Random and Odd, is glowing on my monitor since SPF is her baby.

SPD: Transportation

100_1223.jpg

This is my normal form of transportation. 2003 Saturn VUE. This is my 4th Saturn and I doubt I will ever own anything else.

My dad kept telling me when I bought my VUE that I didn't need a SUV but this baby has come in handy more times than I care to remember.

She needs a good washing because the Mimosa Tree by my apartment keeps dropping its blooms on top of her when I park close to the front door.

Stuff Portrait Friday

TGIF. Thank God It's Friday. As I start my long post for stuff portrait Friday, I realize how perfect our assignment was this week. It allowed me to post the picture of a religious symbol or a symbol of our faith. This week has been crazy and I dont see the craziness ending anytime soon. So, it is all the more appropriate to post this picture and remember that:

100_1211.jpg

Love Never Faileth

I also realized by taking these pictures of the inside and outside of my refrigerator that I need to go to the grocery store this weekend, oh great, one more thing to the list.

100_1212.jpg

Refrigerator

My freezer is full of frozen meats and fish, a few cold glasses for milk and a lot of frozen veggies. Now If I could just find the time to cook.

100_1215.jpg

The door of my refrigerator and my collection of Fruit20 just goes to prove that I am going to be the first recorded death of Splenda someday.

100_1213.jpg

Inside the refrigerator we find apple juice, orange juice, crystal light peach tea and milk. The next shelf is all kinds of dressings and sauces to pour on the meats that are frozen above it. And the bottom shelf is the stuff that needs to be cleaned out when I find the time.

100_1214.jpg

Now, I know that it doesn't really look like I need to go grocery shooping, but what you couldn't see in these pictures are .. that I am out of bread, frozen dinners for work, and stuff to make salads and casseroles for work, and most importantly...CHOCOLATE.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE. NOW IS THE TIME FOR ME TO DISPLAY MY OBSESSION WITH SHOES!

SPD - Upside Down, um... CAKE!

pineapple.jpg
Pineapple Upside Down Cake

I know this doesn't actually fit the criteria for "self-portrait" day, but it explains a lot about how I feel right now. I am exhausted. My class schedule was set long before I ever started interviewing for the job I have since started. I am pushing myself through an unheard of weekly schedule and I have absolutely no clue how I'm going to make it the next 23 days. I have to catch up on a little more school work, I have one more big project to finish and two research papers PLUS the week I got sick, my online class started with 5 assignments a week.

I feel kinda like a pineapple upside down cake. In November, when I lost my job and decided to come to school, I was the cake batter that was stirred up and baked in a hot hot oven. Then things started to cool down and I was settling into my new apartment and my new life in the cakepan of life. Then it came time for presentation, and somebody turned my life upside down, took me out of my nice comfortable schedule and study time and plopped me out on a plate for all to see. And to top it all off, I find that after I'm turned upside down that someone decided to go and put three cherries on top of me and in case you didn't know... I'M ALLERGIC TO CHERRIES!

Thank you to my blog buddies who listen to me rant and detail the crazy parts of your life so I feel a little more normal. Thank you to those who take time out of your busy schedules to spend time with me so I can feel a little human with a life outside of work and class. Thank you to those who are willing to come take the pineapple rings and cherries off of my back (helping with big projects like designing menus (akaBoredom) so that I can actually sleep 4 hours a night, and last but not least, thank you to my job that allows me to do homework during my lunch hours and after I've finished all my assigned tasks.

23 days!

STUFF-PORTRAIT FRIDAY

It is again time for SPF, Stuff-Portrait Friday. This week's entries fall under the categories of 1) Your "Relaxing" Place; 2) Your Medicine Cabinet; 3) Souvenir from a Great Trip.

My "Relaxing" Place

100_1164.jpg

This is the patio in front of my apartment. That couch was my grandparents and is probably about 40 years old. Its amazing what a couch cover will do. I love my patio because I can lay out on the couch and read and no one can see me over those bushes. And the clay pots are the beginnings of my herb garden. Who couldn't relax with the nice aromatic scents of Chives, Oregano, Thyme and Basil drifting thru the air?

My Medicine Cabinet

100_1195.jpg

100_1194.jpg

After factoring in the matchbook size of my apartment you will understand why I call this is my medicine "cabinet." It started out as an aromatherapy "Headache Remedies" gift set from Bath & Body Works. Then I figured out that the three medicines I take everyday for my migraines would fit in there. Unfortunately, the number of bottles in my bag doubled last week when I was sick

My Souvenir from a Great Vacation

Lake%20Tahoe%20Group.jpg

In July 2002 I went on my first vacation that wasn't a trip with the high school choir. My parents are not the traveling type and we never went on vacations when I was growing up that didn't involve going to visit family in Waco or maybe a trip to Schlitterbahn. Myself and these other 4 amazing women headed to Lake Tahoe in July 2002. We were there during some of the grass fires and a heat wave, but it was still one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. This picture was taken of the five of us, on our second night in Lake Tahoe, as we were boarding the M.S. Dixie II for a dinner cruise. I apologize if anyone in the picture sees this and didn't want your picture on the web... just email me and I will take it down.

Until then.. this will also have to cover my late Thursday, self-portrait day with a guest as we were much too busy at school this evening for me to stop and take a picture with someone and then have to explain why I needed a picture with them.

Stuff Portrait Friday

Well.. if you care to mosey on over to Random and Odd, Kristine declared today as Stuff Portrait Friday. There are three categories for the portraits today. Here are my entries:

Chocolate%20Poster.jpg

1) The ugliest thing hanging in your house

All I Need To Know About Life I Learned From Eating Chocolate... Poster. This poster has survived nearly 12 years of hell. It was the poster that we hung on the door of our dorm room. 413 Alexander Hall at Baylor University. Which meant it was pulled off the walls every 9 months since I moved about every 9 months in college. Then it hung in my classrooms at Smalltown, Tx High School and Hightower High School. It even hung on my rolling red Craftsman Toolchest that I was forced to use as a rolling classroom for a year.

HairCareProducts.jpg

2) Your haircare products.

This is the third shelf in my matchbook size linen closet in my bathroom. Just two shelves above the mold & mildew stains from the air conditioner leak from three weeks ago.

Nightlites.jpg

3)Favorite material object(s).

These two nightlites are very special to me. The nightlite on the left, a ceramic church, was given to me by my paternal grandmother, Gracie, who left us in June 2001. The nightlite on the right, the man in the moon, was given to me by my maternal grandmother, Mildred. Both of these nightlites have been keeping the dark away for as long as I can remember. I think I got the Moon when I was 4 or 5 and I think I got the church when I was about 8.

SPD - Dishes

Today's SPD topic was how to annoy me. This picture shows a good example of a really good way to annoy the hell out of me. This is what the sink in our kitchen-lab looked like when we walked in tonight. Apparently some other class didn't feel like doing their dishes so they came and dumped them all in our sink knowing we would end up washing them.

SPD.. My First Installment

Well, according to SillyNessa today was supposed to be SPD (Self-Portrait Day for those of you who haven't been checking out those I've blogrolled). Today was supposed to be a self-portrait of funny duds but I didn't have anything that I can fit into that I would say would qualify. But I figured as long as the Silly One could post her prom picture, I would do the same.

carriage ride.jpg

May 8, 1992. Nearly 13 years ago... WOW.

And I have to say.. although fashions have come and gone, I had the prettiest dress at the prom and I personally don't think that it looks that dated. It also had a matching long sleeve short jacket with sequins explosions all over it. Don't know why I didn't get a a picture with the whole dress on.

Our theme was Puttin on the Ritz. BBM and I started our evening off by meeting at the home of SF with BLW, HMM and J to catch up with our limo. Then it was off to a great dinner at Vargo's in Houston. Our prom was held at the Majestic Theater in Downtown Houston and was a great night complete with horse-drawn carriage rides thru downtown. As soon as we got to the dance, those 3" heels were kicked off across the room. The sequins all over my shoes kept scratching the skin off the top and sides of my feet.

BBM, If you happen to drop by the blog and see yourself, I hope you don't mind my posting our picture for the world to see. Hope your doing ok. Love ya forever!
