Waste of Space Monday - GMAC

Waste of Space Monday is the superfun blog game, the brain child of Tammy of Rant & Ravin' Haven fame where we weekly highlight this week's idiots, where we share with the world why people are stupid. Kinda like Tammy's version of The Darwin Awards.

This week I elect GMAC for Waste of Space Honors.

So, my car insurance renews every January and July on the 29th of the month. Allstate automatically sends a letter to the lien holder of every vehicle that a policy is about to expire. They also, upon renewal, send a letter to the lien holder stating that the policy has been renewed.

So every six months... in April and October, I get a letter from GMAC stating that they don't have record of me having a valid insurance policy for my vehicle. Every six months, I have to call my poor old insurance guy and ask him to send GMAC a copy of the letter that was already sent to them showing my proof of insurance.

Every six months... in May and November, I get another letter from GMAC stating that they still don't have record of me having valid insurance for my vehicle and that if I don't get that information to them within the next 30 days they will apply their own insurance to my account and add it to my monthly payment. Again, I call my poor old insurance guy and ask him to send another letter of proof. This last phone call was done around the 15th of MAY!

Today, I called to change the address with GMAC. They told me that they still don't have proof of my insurance. I told them that the letter showing proof of renewal had been mailed to them at least 3 times. And what did they say?

"Oh, well if they mailed it, that went to another department and it takes a while for them to update the system." So I gave them the information off of my insurance verification slip that I keep in my wallet and they said they would call the agent to verify.

So, I just had to ask. "This is the same agent that I have had since I bought the car nearly four years ago. How come you couldn't call him instead of sending me two nasty letters threatening to charge me for your crappy insurance?"

Then I am told... oh well, we sent out a letter to both you and your insurance agent to call us and verify. Um, ok... well if you are going to turn around and CALL and VERIFY the information I just gave you with my AGENT... then why the HELL didn't you just CALL and VERIFY it with him in the FIRST PLACE?

Just another massive company who's left hand doesn't have a clue what (or who) the right hand is doing. The left hand is kissing up to government officials while the right hand is milking every dollar they can out of the American working class.

I hate big companies.
