Blog-Anniversary

happyanniversary.jpg

One year ago today I became known to the blog community as FutureFoodTVStar. I didn't know what was about to happen or how I would come to know so many wonderful people. What a difference a year can make.

When I started my blog, I knew Ness(a)Lee, but then again, I had known her since 1999 so it was just fun getting to see pictures of MissB and BabyD. Nessa had been blogging for about a month and had a good little blogroll started.

I started clicking on her links and reading blogs of people I didn't know. Then I would click on their links and read other blogs of people I didn't know. Before I knew it I had a blogroll that I could barely read in a day.

Other people I knew in real life, DefinitiveArticle, CricketYank, Andevine, Ball-n-Chain, started blogs. A few of my old students, neuronBarrage, DipoleMoments, Niran Babalola had been bloging for a while. Bloggers like Kami found me and invited me to parties so that I could meet the MILF, FootballWidow, Me & the Punkin, Rant & Ravin', and Crazy Legs O'Houlihan.

My cousin, OB, had a blog leading up to her wedding and 3 of her other bridesmaids and a couple of wedding guests, SparkyJr., Hmm...Interesting, Randomness, The Fairies are Watching, and Phrog1383, have blogs but they don't update very often.

I found blogs that were all about food and cooking and the restaurant scene, like 101 Cookbooks, Hooked on Heat, WaiterRant, Smorgasbord Sunday and Accidential Hedonist. I even had someone suggest that I should marry them after seeing pictures of the food I made in Culinary School, and another ask where he could get food like that, while WITFITS posts about chocolate cravings when I didn't have a dime for the vending machine.

I found blogs that I now visit every day just because the girl, SoozieQ, looked like a girl I went to high school with and I fell in love with Moto's face. SoozieQ and KimmyK have also gotten their hubbies, Sua Sponte and The Hubs into blogging and the proof is on the net. I found someone who pretty much hates everything who has the same birthday as I do. The Twisted Minds shows that someone else's mom knew how to spell Aimee. I found there are quite a few of us bloggers who have been to culinary school and have finished and work/have worked as pastry chefs, Sherri, or had to stop like I have, Suburban Misfit, and What'd I Do This Time? is seeking the opportunity to start culinary school.

Next weekend I am traveling to Austin for BlogBlowout 2006 where I will get to meet even more amazing bloggers. Some of them, like Everyday Lums, I have been reading for months... some of them, like Flutter, I just found last week when I decided I needed a weekend out on the town and signed up to attend the Blowout.

I have seen some of the cutest (and ugliest) dogs (and cats) and squirrels in the world, Very Zen, What Was I Thinking?, Marit, Closet Metrosexual, Holy Schmidt!, HDL, Just Zuphchic, Pack of 2, Bl(ah)g, RSG, Sharkey, Spoonie, and LeLo in NoPo and I have cried along with their families when loved ones like Sam left for Rainbow Bridge.

I found out about a game called Stuff Portrait Friday and Kristine over at Random and Odd sent people to comment on my blog when I felt lonely. Xtessa, Renee, HappyMama, Nobuddy's Buzness, Dashababy and the Fonz all stopped by to say they liked my stuff, and a couple of them would come back again and again.

We saw Jay's Twins, Popeye and NikkiZ born and listened to their moms talk about being pregnant and now get to wait for Maxwell's little sibling. There are a couple of blogs about people who have the same condition, Arnold Chiari, that I have.. like Baylie for Brains and Syringomyelia.

Public Service Announcement blogs, such as Celebrity Smack, keep us informed about how the famous really become famous, while PostSecret gives us a chance to tell our secrets and be famous for a week. Dooce and The Phantom Professor, tell us not to blog about work, Overheard In New York leaves no doubt why that city has the reputation it does, and Overheard in the Office makes us realize we really are working with a bunch of monkeys, and we get Useless Advice from Useless Men, and Snipets of Random Chaos, while The Snowsuit Effort reminds us that real people end up homeless. One Child Left Behind, Spurious Plum, and Wave Of Modulation amaze us with their photography skills and Von Krankipantzen amazes us with her strength.

Anybody's Guess made us laugh at her comedy routine, and DearBuster gets some of the most hilarious search hits you have ever heard. Boobs, Injuries and Dr. Pepper always participates in HNT and Maybe You've Seen My Picture tells us about the trials of being a high school student, George! tells us how hard it is to find cute girls in Dallas, while explaining the fine art of College Hoops Appreciation to us, and I think about Dima every time my mother tells me I should go to Law School, and JohnBoy sometimes makes me sad that I didn't persue my plans of being a college professor.. The Boy Who Thought He Was An Alien video blogs in American Sign Language and I like to try to see if I can understand him before I read the synopsis.

Some of us even get bold enough to put our political thoughts out for the whole world to stare in disbelief. Rosie's Blog, The Republic of T, PencilsSuck and I are gonna campaign together to get Barack Obama elected President and hopefully Kami will do our fundraising.

Until PissyBritches went to go visit RSG and Kristine, I never knew the F-word could be used in so many different ways. SassySuspect and The Tao of Thao blog about my home, Houston, that I miss so much, SNAFU tells us about life in Sweden and Steve sits nude on a toilet seat while telling us about idiot drivers in Memphis that I would swear were Dallasites stuck in Tennessee.

Well, folks. That is the past year in a nutshell and here's looking forward to another one full of clicks, links, selfportraits and blog blowouts. I have learned to appreciate you blogworld and I Blove everyone on my blog roll.

I wish I was going to Blogger Blowout so I could meet you in person. If you don't mind, get your picture taken with Lori (she left you a comment above) and one of you post it on your blog. Since I met her, it'll be like I *almost* met you too!
