Potluck Thanksgiving Lunch at Work

menu.jpg

I am officially miserable.

I work with a bunch of good cooks. The company paid for a turkey and a honeybaked ham, and one of the guys made a RoadKill Chili. The rest of us signed up to bring stuff and there is so much food left over, if you are in the area, come on and get some.

There were two different types of deviled eggs, one normal and the other had dijon mustard, basil and sundried tomatoes in the stuffing. The veggie and cheese tray was in a picnic basket and was beautiful, until we messed it up. The shrimp cocktail was good. The chili cheese squares were basically a cheddar cheese and green chilie quiche. I'm sure it was probably good, I just dont care for quiches... but I did try a piece since my friend made them.

Side Items were plentiful and delicious. Jalapeno Jelly, Scalloped Potatoes, Broccoli and Cheese, Cornbread Dressing and Sausage Stuffing, Steamed Cabbage, Broccoli Rice Casserole, Corn Casserole, Hashbrown Casserole, Wheatberry Salad, Blue Cheese Salad, Rosemary New Potatoes, Pistachio Salad, Roasted Asparagus, Sweet Potato Souffle and I made Butternut Squash Soup. We also had a large
amount of rolls and cornbread.

Now to the most important thing, Dessert. We had homemade chocolate peanut butter bon bons, Pecan Pies, Coconut Pies, Lemon Cream Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Cookies, Red Velvet Cake and Dirt & Snow Dessert.

There was a comment about "look what (my job) people can do when we put our minds to it" to which got a response, "yep, we cook, eat, drink and bitch."

Since I am still lacking in the work-that-needs-to-be-done department, I spent about an hour prior to lunch helping set everything up and about an hour afterwards helping clean up. I have a glass of tea and a small plate of the sweet potato souffle to snack on until I can leave ... sometime between 3pm and 4pm. Now I'm just hoping I don't fall asleep on the drive to "TheArmpitOfHell". Someone call me and keep me awake for that hour and 45 minutes, please.
