Banned Books?
I got this from Jomama's blog. This is a list of the top banned books from 1990-2000. The ones in bold are the ones I have read. I don't even like to read, but I found it suprising that I had read as many of these as I had. Most of them were required reading in high school or college. And these were banned? What the heck for?

Ok missie: First of all, I can't believe you have read as few of those books as you marked. I know I've read at least half. They are all great. Most of those books were banned because they dealt with or had things in them that were not all sunshine and rainbows and might get a child to think outside the box: death or rape of children, sex, mastrubation, sexual organs, atheism, profanity, racial slurs (to Kill a Mockingbird), "demonic refrences" (Harry Potter, R.L. Stine books)...and thats all I can remember. Crap, yes, totally. And they were probably put on the list because some parent bitched to a school board. But if you look, you will find that all of these books were banned at "one time" from certain schools or from certain reading lists. Hastings puts up a similar list every year. I can walk into po-dunk elementary USA and find damned near all of them now.
